Nestled near Auckland’s Takapuna Beach, the restaurant’s calm demeanour draws from the surrounding New Zealand coastline.
This revitalised beachside restaurant has evolved into a vibrant night-time destination, spotlighting a refined, coastal-inspired concept. The design centres around a dynamic oyster shucking bar and fish curing display, creating an immersive seafood experience.
The project focused on the principle of subtraction to bring the character of the building to the forefront and stripping back the noisy existing elements to provide a clean setting for us to being layering our design elements
With a small, focused menu built around shared plates, fresh oysters, and visually engaging elements like a semi-open kitchen, the space invites guests to gather, share, and savour the ocean’s best in an elevated yet casual setting.
Our goal was to honour the success of what the restaurant was before its rebrand and new interior. To retain elements of the site that worked and would feel familiar to regular customers, but to pair back what we could to match the interior experience to the style and quality of the new menu direction.
We worked together with the owner to remove the original space’s noise and create a restaurant that deeply reflects our shared vision – stripped back, calm, and coast inspired.
